Sometimes even though you’ve rebuilt your old wardrobe all over again, it just doesn’t feel like much of a change, right? The answer is simple, it’s all because you press “continue” instead of “new game.”

STEP 1: FREE YOUR MIND.

There are no limits, ideals or rules when it comes to fashion. There is no right or wrong. You do YOU. Fashion is not about becoming someone else, it’s about expressing who you truly are.

STEP 2: EMPTY YOUR WARDROBE.

By emptying your closet is like clearing your vision. It will help you see things from a different point of view and visualize your ideal wardrobe. Think of owning nothing and reflect:
◆ Which are the key-items you can’t live without? Your ride or die?
◆ Which are the first 10 pieces you would add to your current wardrobe?
◆ Which fashion piece do you feel that expresses you the most?
◆ Which is your favorite color palette and which one is your “bold” color?
◆ How would you spice up your wardrobe?

STEP 3: START WITH 7 BASIC KEY-ITEMS AND 3 STATEMENT PIECES.

Basics are the structure of your wardrobe. No matter how your style will evolve, you will always find yourself gravitating towards those pieces. So before you start adding statement pieces to your wardrobe, you have to build your basic wardrobe which will include all your must-have pieces that never go in and out of style.
-Excerpt from my blog post “How to find your personal style”.

Recommended Basics: White tee, Jeans, Grey Sweater, Black top, Black jeans, Coat, Denim or Leather jacket.
Recommended Statements: Leopard midi dress, Graphic vintage tee, Checked blazer, Bold colored shoes (Red Converse).

STEP 4: “TREASURE HUNTING”

Before heading to your go-to stores to complete your wardrobe, have a sneak peek at your mom’s and dad’s old clothes. You may find some unique vintage gems in there.

TIP: Some of the key items to look for at your dad’s wardrobe are an oversized blazer, white blouse, sweaters, and oversized coats.

STEP 5: QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.

The value of your wardrobe isn’t hidden at the number of clothes you own, it is reflected through you. Don’t rush to expand your wardrobe. Invest in 2-3 quality pieces each season and update your basics regularly. As the seasons pass, you will notice that your dream wardrobe begins to form slowly but steadily.
